Steingarten LA Now Open in Rancho Park - West LA's Newest Beer Garden/Restaurant on Pico Blvd Serves Up Burgers, Sausages, Cocktails and, of course, Beers Galore

There aren’t 99 bottles of beer on the wall at Steingarten LA, which just opened March 1 here in Rancho Park, West LA, but it seems pretty close. The fridge here is stocked with over 30 specialty craft beers and there are another 20 rotating through the taps.

My first (I will be back) visit was a solo one so I tried to keep things light with Leifman's Fruitessa, sort of like passion fruit iced tea, but in a beer. Great choice for my lunch on the patio. Next up, I plan to try the Firestone Velvet Merlin, mainly because I like the name and am curious about an oatmeal stout. The Lagunitas Hairy Eyeball is oddly tempting too.

There is plenty to be adventurous with on this menu, which includes deer salami and rabbit, bison, elk and alligator and pork sausage. I loved my chicken apple and especially dug the curry ketchup, which manager, co-owner and proud Rancho Park Online member, Ebi Bero, quickly replenished for me. The caramelized onions are a hit too. The kitchen served up 50 pounds worth on opening day.

And if  beer and sausage aren't your thing, there's an extensive cocktail menu and Ebi promises the burger is the best in town. Salads and salmon sausage are non-meat options. Ebi, who lives in the neighborhood too, tells me they are planning on hosting beer lectures, which I hope he'll post here, so we can all go and learn more. In the meantime, I am looking forward to more experimenting, and community building, with friends as we make our way through the extensive offerings.

For those of you who live here in Rancho Park, check your mailboxes because the restaurant recently sent $15.00 coupons to area residents. Already great neighbors indeed!

I took a few pictures but check out this slideshow from Grubstreet LA too.

Nice video Eddie. Looks like you had a great lunch anyway.

Nice photos. It sounds like an update on the classic German restaurant. I just missed you for lunch and ended up at Gyu Kaka, the Japanese BBQ down the street. Happy hour at 3 p.m.

This place is a hit!  Overland residents flocked here opening day (both lunch and dinner) and again Thursday night, taking over the community table in the great room.  The staff is still working on memorizing the beer menu, and the wonderful pilsner the first night was not available on the third, but even with this little kinks, the venue is smashing!  Abe (I guess he changed it to Ebi?) is a charming host.  The sausages, parmesan fries with garlic sauce are a hit, as is the tasty turkey burger on a soft, almost sweet, bun.  The caesar is good but would be great with a little anchovy!  The OAC review is up at www.overlandave.org

Cheers!
