Removing the old train tracks to put in the new Expo Line train tracks in Rancho Park

What was once an eyesore and was finally cleaned up and landscaped will now become a construction zone as Phase 2 of the Expo Light Rail Line begins.

Work crews will remove existing train tracks along the Expo right-of-way in Rancho Park and Cheviot Hills starting January 9. The work should be completed in April, according to BuildExpo.org.
Work crews will remove the existing railroad tracks consisting of rails, fasteners, and ties from Military Avenue to Bagley Avenue.

Heavy machinery and flat bed trucks with back-up alarms will be utilized for this work. Flaggers will be used to assist trucks hauling debris as they enter and exit work areas on Military Avenue, Westwood Boulevard, Overland Avenue, Motor Avenue, National Boulevard, and Bagley Avenue.

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Noise levels will be monitored. Work crews will water down the work area to minimize dust, and the air will be monitored.
