Event Description

Andreea Kindryd, a renown Australian Storyteller is making her debut appearance in Los Angeles for a one-time only homecoming concert at the Institute of Musical Art’s Ray G. Clark Theater, Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Come celebrate Black History Month with this wonderful storyteller.

Andreea is an African-American who has lived and worked in Australia for 39 years. The show, titled, “From Slavery to Star Trek (A Family’s Journey)” was the darling of the 2012 Sydney Fringe Festival, where it received glowing reviews. Andreea Kindryd’s stories invoke her family’s journey from a Mississippi slave plantation to integrated US universities, from run-ins with the KKK and the civil rights movement, to a successful string of career “firsts” in Hollywood, and include love stories, sobering tales and very funny personal bits including her “Hair Wars” with her hairdresser-to-the-stars mother and her work on the original Star Trek television series.

Kindryd is a generous, funny, loving and exciting storyteller who makes history come alive. This is certain to be a very entertaining afternoon. A catered reception will follow the performance. This might be your only opportunity to see this sassy septuagenarian perform in Los Angeles before she returns to her home in Australia at the end of next month. Seating is limited.  Tickets are $20.00.
