Just found out about swim lessons here in Rancho Park:

Swimming Los Angeles

I have no first hand knowledge but we are going to try them out this summer.

Of course, there are also lessons at the Beverly Hills Country Club (located no where near Beverly Hills) at Motor and Manning.

I'm just a mom of 4 trying to stay sane over the summer...if anyone has any kid-friendly ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks!

I just thought I would follow-up to my original post now that all four of my kids have taken a two-week session of lessons with Swimming Los Angeles.  All of my kids took the class for kids uncomfortable int he water and all had a great time.  My two youngest (3 year old twins) loved it so much that they pretend to go swimming all the time around the house.  They also count like Nacia (their instructor) and pretend to do bobs.  My oldest, who hated getting his head wet, was completely comfortable putting his head under water within a few lessons.  It might not sound like much, but I was very impressed.

I liked that the classes were 4 days a week for 30 minutes each.  I think that it was beneficial to my kids to get in the water everyday for a short lesson.  And because the location is so close the schedule wasn't inconvenient.  I also liked that the lessons were in a private/personal pool as there were no distractions.

We had a great experience and I am signing up for another two week session next week.

I have heard great things about swim lessons at the Westside YMCA and our kids have been loving taking lessons at the Beverlywood Swim School, which has been teaching kids how to swim since 1951. Neither are in Rancho Park but I have personally walked to both locations so I consider them local. One nice thing about the Beverlywood Swim School is that you can go there and swim in their practice pool, even if you don't have lessons that day. We end up spending so much time there in the summer, we call it our country club.
