With Phase 2 of the Expo Light Rail crossing through Rancho Park's main thoroughfares of Overland, Westwood, Sepulveda and Sawtelle, we are keenly following any development developments. So thanks to Karen Leonard and Sarah Hays of Light Rail for Cheviot, for this heads-up about the Expo Authority being close to selecting construction joint venture Skanska/Rados for the Phase 2 design-build contract.
You can read the relevant agenda item for Expo's upcoming board meeting here.
"The contract still has to be negotiated and awarded, which will take about 6 weeks," explains Gaby Collins of the Expo Authority, in an email to Light Rail for Cheviot. "After the contract is awarded and the Design-Build team has had time to mobilize, we will work on determining the schedule for the community meetings to introduce the contractor and initiate the design process."
These soon-to-be-scheduled community meetings will address issues including whether the Westwood station will have a parking lot, the scope of the Casden development project at Sepulveda and if that station will have at-grade crossing or have an arial crossing instead.
These decisions will have a big impact on Rancho Park so stay tuned for the meeting dates and I do hope to see you there.
