Bootcamp in the Park, My Hyperlocal Year Continues with Some Very Early Mornings

As part of my efforts to stay local and get back in shape, I have been attending a morning bootcamp in Rancho Park for the last week or so. It is called Boot Camp 90210 but don't let the name fool you, the classes are held behind the baseball fields, near where the dogs run their obstacle courses, in the back of Rancho Park. Trainer Chuck leads this ladies-only class with no yelling and screaming but plenty of lunges and lifts. Most of the women are signed up through Bridalicious Bootcamp, which runs concurrently, and apparently attracts a more motivated crowd than overtired mothers-of-three. 

 

The class meets at 6:30 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at 8:00 am on Saturdays. Despite a few mosquitoes, some mud puddles and the dangers of few piles of dog poop, I have been enjoying spending my early mornings in the park and looking up at the changing sky as I try to make a few changes of my own.
