Obama and Clooney end their meeting with hoops at the Rancho Park Golf Course

The day after President Barack Obama visited L.A. for his 10th visit, he reported played basketball with George Clooney and Tobey Maguire at the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center at the Rancho Park Golf Course, according to Devin Dwyer of ABC News.

Good Food Festival & Conference spills over into Rancho Park

Fireworks in Rancho Park and Los Angeles

 Despite the fact that fireworks are banned in Los Angeles and many of its sister cities, they really know how to do the Fourth of July right.



My wife loves firework displays. In LA alone, we've seen fireworks from the Colorado St. bridge in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl show and from the deck of a home in the Palos Verdes hills watching the panorama from Carson's Home Depot to San Pedro's Queen Mary. Celebrate America a Week Early with Fireworks and Foodtrucks in Santa Monica

Santa Monica College is having its annual Celebrate America event this Saturday, June 25th.

Parking lots open at 4:00. There will be food (great food trucks), fun and fireworks. People can bring chairs, blankets and a picnic. Bring warm clothes, b/c the fireworks won’t start until 9:00.

Downtown LA Football Stadium Town Hall Meeting in Mar Vista

End of pet stores in LA as we know them? Rancho Park Councilman Paul Koretz bans puppy/kitten mills

The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved a motion by Councilmember Koretz that should put an end to the puppy and kitten mills by banning the commercial breeding of dogs, cats, rabbits and chicken and the sale of those animals in pet stores, according to news reports and Councilman Paul Koretz's newsletter.

 

Instead the animal shelter will work with licensed pet stores to make shelter animals available for adoption at those stores.
