Where is Rancho Park? Can Someone Give Me a Sign? Or at Least Tell Me What Happened to the Rancho Park Signs That Were on Pico near Sepulveda and Westood near National?

Does anyone know what has become of the Rancho Park neighborhood signs that I could swear used to be posted. The only one I can find these days is this in-need of-attention sign located on Overland Ave. just south of Olympic Blvd. Are there more around and where are they? If they are gone, who took them down and why?

Any leads appreciated.

Stay tuned for…

Yes on Measure L -- Restore Library Hours

I'm a big fan of libraries and love to spend time with my kids at the Palm-Racho Park branch on Overland. But last year, as I'm sure you know, funding for libraries was cut drastically.  Libraries across the city were hit hard; hours were drastically slashed and many library workers were laid off.  I discovered this the hard way by showing up on a Monday afternoon to find the doors locked.  I've always believed that like a sound public education that's free and equally available to all…

The Wellesbourne - Rancho Park, West LA Meets Harry Potter's London

My Rancho Park hyperlocal  year kicked off with drinks at The Wellesbourne on Pico Blvd. First off, thanks to my friends and family who have been troopers when I inform them we can only go out in our West Los Angeles neighborhood of Rancho Park this year. Lucky for us, it really has not felt like a sacrifice. I imagine I will eventually include some of our north of Olympic neighbors, like Westwood and Sawtelle, but for now, I'm enjoying keeping my explorations…

Will West LA Have a Bike Path Along the MTA Expo Line? It Depends Who You Ask.

Here in Rancho Park and Cheviot Hills, we are hearing quite a bit of spin  about the proposed bike path to run along Phase 2 of the Expo Line light rail route, which travels through the Westside, from from Culver City to Santa Monica.

At issue is an assertion in the Cheviot Hills Homeowners' Association's Winter newsletter (not online yet) that federal funding has been suspended for this project due to a lawsuit filed by…

My Racho Park Secrets... #1: F & S Fabrics Notions Department

I love giving and receiving gifts that are tied up with brightly-colored, reusable ribbon.  For years I traveled to Santa Monica to buy ribbon by the yard at Michael's or Jo-Anne's.   Then I discovered the notions department -- specifically the ribbons and trims -- at F & S Fabrics.  The choices are scrumptious and will help to create gorgeous, eco-friendly & reusable wrapping.  Try some hand-dyed silk ribbon to spruce up a package wrapped in a brown paper grocery bag.  Trust me, it'll… Continue
